With the help of SLM staff, namely George Lampshire and his team, over 70 EFDSC swimmers arrived through the night from 7pm Saturday to 7 am Sunday. Swimmers ranged from 5 year olds swimming a few lengths to Michael Van Bergen a member of our Performance squad swimming a massive 25k. All swimmers logged their swim on a map of the Channel and the overall distance swam was the equivalent to crossing the Channel over 6 times. Friends, family and coaches all took their turn knowing that their efforts were for two good causes, half the sponsor money raised will be going to a cancer charity and the other half to our Clubs electronic touch pad fund to purchase electronic timing equipment currently estimated at over £20,000.
The money is still being collected but I think we have managed to raise over £1000.
