The 2010 NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) men's and NCAA women's swimming and diving championship swim meets are among the many March Madness NCAA events. Don't forget about the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) and NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) college national championship swim meets.

March 2010 College National Championship Swim Meets:

  • 10-13 March: The NCAA DII Men's and Women's Championship Swim Meet (coed meet)

    Dana Vollmer had a strong night in the pool Saturday, taking home two gold medals on the final night of competition at the 2010 Austin Grand Prix Swim Meet. Vollmer won both the 200m fly and 100m free, an event in which she also set a pool record. Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Soni also broke a pool record with her swim in the 200m breast.

    The 2010 USA Swimming Grand Prix Swim Meet Series continues April 1-3 with the 2010 Columbus Grand Prix in Columbus, Ohio, which is the third stop of the eight-meet series. The winner of the Series will be awarded $20,000 at the final Grand Prix Swim Meet held in Los Angeles, July 8-11.

    Britsh Gas ASA East Region Youth Championships 1st/2nd May 2010

    Full details of the Britsh Gas ASA East Youth Championships are now available on the East Swimming website. Please read the entry details carefully before submitting your entry. Qualifying times must have been acheived since October 2009 and ages are as at date of competition - Girls 14+ and Boys 15+.

    Entries must be made on the correct form and submitted to Alison Hollis no later than Wednesday 7th April.

    Any queries please speak with your coach in the first instance.

     

    Redbridge Level 3 Meet - 24/25th April - Final reminder
    The club will be entering above level 3 meet. Full details can be found on their website at www.lbrsc.org . Please complete the standard EFDSC entry form and return to Hilary Thomas no later than 9th march 2010. Please note those swimmers entering East Region Youth Championships will not be expected to enter this meet. If you do not have a time for an event please speak with your coach in the first instance. The gala secretary is unable to provide times for entry on the coaches behalf.
     

    Cancelled Sessions - 10 February 2010

    There will be no swimming at Waltham Abbey on Fridays 5/3 and 12/3. On 12/3 only all swimmers can swim at Ongar.

    There will be no swimming at Bancrofts on Tuesday 16th and 30th March and Monday 29th no land training or swimming. Due to school activities swimmers are requested not to park on site on the following dates Tuesday 23rd Feb,Wednesday 3rd March and Tuesday 9th March.

     

    NEW SWIM SUIT RULES - 08 November 2009

    BL 8.2 competitors must wear only one swimsuit in one or two pieces. No additional items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be regarded as parts of a swimsuit.

    BL 8.3            From January 1st 2010 swimwear for men shall not extend above the navel nor below the knee, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below knee.  All swimsuits shall be made from textile materials.

    Epping Forest District Swimming Club is 30 years old this year and to coincide with the first Loughton Festival we arranged a sponsored charity night swim.
    Over the 30 years the Club has been offering Learn to Swim classes for children, competitive swimming at Essex, Eastern and National levels as well as Masters sessions.     Well done to all swimmers who competed in Essex Block C at Blackshots, Grays. Yet again an impressive set of PBs and Eastern Region times obtained. Well done to Marius Vermaak, Eleanor Bedwell, Melissa Seeley and Megan Holder for achieving medal status again!   

    22 EFDSC swimmers swam at Block B - they swam their socks off with a plethora of PBs. I won’t mention that one poor swimmer was driven to the wrong pool by their parent! Oops! Swimmers were Chris Mitchell, Jessica Lambert, Emma Waite, Bonnie Sawyer, Megan Holder, Bethan Holder, Lisa Waite, Arjun Robertson, Marissa Posnett, Melissa Seeley, Stacey Van Bergen, Marius Vermaak, Alex Hayman, David Price, Charlotte Kenyon, Chloe-Annabelle Ward, Amy Goillau, Aimee Fahey, Ryan Ward, Reece Ward, Michael Coles, Marc Richards. A special mention for Arjun who picked up first place in the 10 year old 200 metre Breaststroke with a new county record. Well done all, back to training till the next time – Block C at Blackshots, Grays!   

    11 swimmers competed in 37 events over the weekend, enjoyed competing against different opposition and picked up a total of 15 medals. The medalist were Chris Mitchell, Alex Hayman, Melissa Seeley, Michael Coles, Bonnie Sawyer, Megan Holder and Amy Goillau.   

    Epping entered 30 swimmers in 75 events and nearly everyone achieved really good pbs! Our finalist were Arjun Robertson, Bonnie Sawyer, Jessica Lambert, Eleanor Bedwell, Megan Holder, Chris Mitchell, Emma Waite, Amy Goillau, Charlotte Kenyon, Melissa Seeley and Marius Vermaak.
